About Me

IMG_0932I’m a recent college graduate and passionate advocate for play throughout the life course! My interest in the topic of adult playfulness blossomed when I wrote my senior thesis on an emerging business model that incorporates a recess-like period into the workday of corporate America (you can access my thesis in its entirety through this blog). While researching for my project, however, I discovered that information on this topic is scarce and very little data has been published on it. Play is an important aspect of all of our lives and I want to make this information available to people who are interested in how playing as an adult can positively influence how you navigate the world around you.

Through this blog I hope to enlighten you on how play can help balance your life. I will also write about what I’ve learned through conducting interviews with corporate employees to help fill the gap of information that exists on the topic of adult play in the workplace.

I keep myself balanced by traveling, exploring, hiking, kayaking, adventuring, and meditating. I love refinishing old furniture and giving it new life, photographing the beauty I see in the world and sharing it with others, impacting the environment in a positive way, and I especially love a great cup of coffee!

Don’t think about it, play about it!

  1. I am very interested in hearing your thoughts on adult play. I teach InterPlay and am always interested in connecting with others who are interested in life-long play. I would love to be able to subscribe to an RSS feed for your blog or get new posts by email if you were to set that up.

    • Thanks so much for your comment, Kate! I have just added a subscription option on the sidebar for you. I’m glad you hear you’re a play advocate as well…feel free to contact me anytime =)

I am the producer of the Levity Life radio program. Here is a link to our latest show with Bernie DeKoven of DeepFun where we discuss Adult Playgrounds.
I would like to talk to you about being on a panel discussion about Adult Play on Feb 15 on our radio program.

  3. Tracy, I’m being interviewed for Nightly Business Report on PBS today, and you are one of my go-to sources on this topic! Just wanted you to know. Good work! Thanks.

  4. Hi Tracy,

Holy cow, I can’t wait to read your thesis! I have been promoting adult play in my own way for the last three years and have also been surprised and saddened that this is such a neglected subject. Thank you for all you are doing!

Are you familiar with the US Play Coalition? If not, please please check it out (http://usplaycoalition.clemson.edu/). I just came back from their annual conference (which was awesome, by the way, complete with recess) and there are a lot of people working to make play a part of our daily lives – but not enough of them thinking about the need for adults to play, too, in my humble opinion.

  5. Hey Tracy. Love what your doing. Lets connect. Guest post? Q & A. My blog is about my year long life experiment in being more childlike http://www.bemorechildlike.blogspot.com
